Whimsical Magazine is a new independent fortnightly publication aiming to highlight and sublimize portrait photography in all its forms, envisioned as a work of art. Passion, creativity, emotion and audacity are our 4 watchwords. Introducing EmmaVan Dort.. Emma Van Dort is the photographer behind the lens. Originally from Great Britain, she then became a seasoned expat and lived in the French speaking part of Switzerland for over 15 years. Whether it’s her vision of photography or everyday life, Emma’s main values reside in the notion of simplicity and authenticity. ‘I believe in simplicity. Whether I’m taking photos of brand new babies and their tiny toes, a beautiful pregnant belly or a cute toddler, capturing their uniqueness is my goal.. less is more! My studio sessions are very organic, laid back with minimal posing.’ Thus, Emma describes her photography style as timeless, pure and natural. Indeed, she loves creating images that capture genuine emotion, through playful photoshoot sessions during which she also provides a selection of maternity dresses, newborn and toddler outfits, at the disposal of her clients. ‘I see the beauty in simplicity, no trendy props & big accessories, I prefer natural posing, listening to the baby’s needs & creating a timeless memory for the family to treasure for generations!’ Emma likes working in the warmth of her studio inVinzel, but is always willing to shoot at a location of choice (vineyards, lakeside, forest) as well as in the comfort of her clients’ home. On the other hand, since 2021, Emma Van Dort became a member of ASPPNN, which aims to guarantee the physical and emotional safety of infants during their first photoshoot.
