"threefooteleven - a child's eye view of hurricane katrina" is a children's book developed with Auburn University architecture students and Alabama elementary school students focused on the Hurricane Katrina catastrophe. The authors (Shannon Gibson, Rebecca Harris, Billy Maffett, Steven Wall, Gerry Cruz and Stan Bertheaud) have put together a personal and accessible story of Billy and Becca, siblings, trying to make sense of their mother's written and sketched eye-witness account of the massive hurricane's devastation. The book is an interesting, graphically powerful, and hopeful alternative to the mainstream media coverage of the tragic event.
