Mary Huston Valentine was a pioneer of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and one of the earliest settlers of Brigham City, Utah. She grew up in Nauvoo, walked the plains, buried her father in an unmarked grave, and lived in a lice-infested wood fort. She married at age fifteen and gave birth at sixteen. She endured the hardships and trials of the early Mormon pioneers. Faced with the choice of polygamous marriage, she separated from her husband and raised her children alone. Through all her sacrifices and heart-breaks, she remained faithful to her children and religion. This is her biography, a story of remarkable woman who remained "true to the faith she espoused."
