The Urban Art Jungle Volume I Hardback
The Street Art in Havana - Cuba
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Over 125 full color images capturing the wonderful variety of urban wall art that adorns the streets of Havana, the capital of this beautiful Caribbean island.
Despite the fact that it’s extremely difficult - and somewhat expensive - to obtain acrylic paint in Havana, the volume of wall art being created on the streets is a surprise in itself. The economy in Cuba has, for decades, been fragile at best, but Covid and the complete lack of tourism income that followed, which it has come to very much rely on, generated even more extreme hardship. Yet, the urban street art scene is a thriving community, as Cuba tries to recover.
The variety of painting styles, from local and international artists, adds a vibrancy and color to walls, doors, gates and shutters, many of which are suffering from years of neglect and decay.
Most of the images shown in this book were taken on the streets in the ‘Centro’ district of Havana and adjoining neighborhoods. In particular, San Isidro Street - located near the train station - and the surrounding area has become a very popular ‘canvas’ for these talented artists.
