Good Personality: The Ultimate Guide To Radio Stars - 45th anniversary edition
Biography
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Andy Ellison, Martin Gordon and Ian MacLeod burst on to the punk scene as Radio Stars during April 1977 with their debut 'Dirty Pictures’ on Chiswick Records. In just over 18 months they clocked up over 200 gigs as they hardly paused for breath! Andy was far from your usual frontman. His stage antics saw him leap in to the audience at will and on anyone who got in his way. He would climb up the PA, swing from the lighting gantry, perform somersaults and even bounce over the drum kit as Radio Stars became everyone’s favourite live band. Their songs were more sophisticated and quirky than others at the time and main song-smith Martin was still on a mission from Sparks. Finding someone to permanently sit on the drum stool was never easy, although, when Steve Parry joined they didn’t just go on to become pin-up boys in the girly mags, they also made various TV appearances, including TOTP when ‘Nervous Wreck’ decided to become hit and poke its nose in the UK Top 40 during February 1978 selling over 60,000 copies.
