Jeremy, a timid 17-year-old, leaves a troubled home in Michigan to survive on a tropical island with his eccentric grandfather. In a gentle yet forceful narrative and with rambunctious characters, Who Likes Jeremy shows the main character falling into a friendship with Ashok, where he becomes bound by seeing his dreams fulfilled. This popular and boisterous friend gives Jeremy relief from his anxieties by exposing him to consolation and to adventure in aviation, league basketball, an excursion to a rainforest and the whole of the West Indian culture.
However, their bond unravels when Ashok's affection for a girl doesn't work out. It's because she has a fascination for Jeremy's shyness.
