Apophis: The Asteroid, the Deity, and the Interstellar Echoes of Apepi

In the mysterious interplay between mythology, astronomy, and human imagination lies a curious and profound connection—a connection that spans from the ancient temples of Egypt to the deep black void of interstellar space. One of the most compelling examples of this cosmic thread is the asteroid Apophis, a celestial body named after a fearsome deity of chaos. This essay explores the multidimensional links between the asteroid Apophis, the entity known as Apophis or Apep in Egyptian mythology, and the wider mythological resonance of Apepi, a Hyksos ruler whose name echoes the chaos serpent himself.
