The young Earl of Huntington, Robin Fitzooth, has been defrauded of his estates by his wicked uncle, Abbot Gilbert of Fountain Abbey. In addition, Prince John has outlawed the earl and ordered the Sheriff of Nottingham to find the earl and kill him, in order to remove Robin as a rival for the hand of the beautiful Marian Fitzwalter. The outlawed earl responds by recruiting a band of loyal archers, who attack and loot the castles of the Norman nobles who support Prince John.
