Roadmap to a Successful Gis

There are many efforts done to implement Geographical Information Systems around the world. Amazing many efforts are failing for various reasons. Most of them fail for the simplest reason, we do not understand where we are and where we want to go with GIS. Establishing present state and future state seems to be forgotten in the jungle of technical questions and challenges. Do not let yourself be caught between the sales person of GIS solutions and their arguments to why their solutions is best for you. First, decide for yourself what you need GIS for, then where are you today, and then if you are not where you want to be, then map out a roadmap to how you can get where you want. Then begin to call the sales persons and see how they can provide solutions assisting you in reaching your vision and goals.
