Range Anxiety

ByStuart Rand-Bell

RANGE ANXIETY. James Bannister is a failed inventor, approaching middle age and with nothing much to show for himself except a beaten up old Volvo estate, when one bitterly cold morning he spots something so unexpected and so revolutionary that it could change the future of motoring. Read any journalistic commentary about electric cars and there is always one flaw that repeats itself again and again. The batteries run out too quickly and then take too long to charge up. What if there was a genuinely workable solution to this problem? Well James has found it and he is going to make his fortune selling it to the world. There is only one problem. The car companies, the oil giants and even governments have a lot to gain or lose from his idea. Range Anxiety is short romp of ‘Faction’ but also includes a genuine, workable solution to the problem of electric cars running out of power, mixed with background chapters of factual relevance to the story.
