Riddle of the Lake

Twinkle Toes and The Riddle of the Lake blends story telling and science to explore the Great Lakes in a two part book. It does so in an unusual fashion that keeps the reader engaged and entertained as it informs as we see the lake from the viewpoint of Twinkle toes the crabby cat during a cruise to Canada. Twink and her Mother and cousin sail aboard a leaky old wooden boat with author Skipper Sue in quest of stories. Squalls fog and navigational blunders lead them to the lake's most remote island. Here the cats help Skipper Sue find an answer to The Riddle of the Lake. Part two follows up with factual reporting on the issues touched upon during the voyage of the three cats. It also contains information on the underground railroad, on the War of 1812, and other maritime heritage notes. Part One is written at a 5th grade and up reading level, part two is at advanced to adult reading level.
