Sometimes Life throws us - the unexpected happens or things don’t work out as we’d planned.
In October 2003, Susan Skolnick-Lozano was busy running Fairhunt Farm, teaching and mentoring a group of young riders; her daughter, Rebekah, was 20 and working as a horse trainer. Life changed for them suddenly and dramatically when Rebekah suffered a traumatic brain injury as the result of an automobile accident.
Riding at Fairhunt was inspired by Rebekah’s unexpected and determined recovery. Susan Skolnick-Lozano finds important parallels between her family’s experiences with Rebekah and the “Life Lessons” that can be found in the art and sport of horseback riding.
Riding at Fairhunt describes the intricate and wonderful relationship between rider and horse by offering stories about love, confidence, preparation, competition, determination and sportsmanship.
