This course is designed to enhance students’ grammar and syntax skills, vocabulary, and writing and editing ability. Students examine a variety of writing styles and focus on writing clear and concise sentences, paragraphs, and essays. They will read short stories and contemporary novels, do writing exercises, and improve critical thinking and vocabulary skills. They will put their skills to practical use by writing articles, poetry, reaction papers, college application essays, and doing impromptu exercises. By the end of the year, students should have a strong command of English; they should have a comprehensive vocabulary and improved writing style.
