Mth 110 H 130 H Math Honors

This three-trimester 1st grade honors math program will prepare students for Merit Academy's 2nd grade math. This course continues to use manipulatives to help students to make the connection between addition and subtraction concepts. The students will study charts and learn “borrowing” and “carrying” concepts with a place-value chart. In order to maximize the students' exposure to each new concept, the students are required to complete all problems in each section of their workbooks. In addition to one-to-one instruction in math concepts, the students also do CoreBasixx or Kumon Math, which offer the students the opportunity to master mathematic areas where they may be weak to ensure success as they work their way through more advanced mathematics.
