The artist, Basilia Hallward, from The Picture of Sibyl Vane, is relocated to a Berlin studio in May 1945; where she has been interned for the war years by the Germans. She now awaits the arrival of the Russians.
Fortunately, she is ‘liberated’ by soldiers from a female company who trained at the Bolshoi Theatre before the war, and who take an interest in her entartete Kunst.
