Evidences for the Bible

The biggest book-seller, the most translated book, the most commented book of all time. The writing of which is a mystery and a marvel. Written by over 40 authors over a 1500 plus time span, it unites to tell a single story. This book is the Bible. The claims that it makes are marvelous. It claims to be the Word of God and to give life and life eternal to whoever would believe it. Such stupendous claims must surely be investigated. And such investigations cannot be left to anyone else. It is something that we all must do personally. But to start off, we all have heard some general comments about the Bible. We have some doubts of our own. Did the events described in the Bible actually occur? How much historical proof is there for the same? How unique is the Bible anyway, when compared with other books? Why should it alone have an unique claim? What are the evidences for the life of the central character of the Bible, namely Jesus? This document attempts to do a brief survey on these topics.
