The Garden of Secret Wishes

Natalie Clayton was born in 2002 with Pleuro-pulmonary Blastoma. At the age of four she took her grandma’s hand and led her out to the garden. Before entering through the gate she pointed to the little ceramic bluebird that sat on the gate-post and said, “We have to say the magic word.” The story she told her grandma about the garden, its secrets, and the magic word have been told in verse here by her grandma and beautifully illustrated by John Sage.
