Nichiren’s sangha series, Priest Disciples: Byakuren Ajari Nikkō

Research about Nikkō has been made primarily through denominational sources, whereas he recently attracted renewed scholarly attention. While these contents have yet to be made available in English, this essay explores about Nikkō as Nichiren’s acting secretary and of one of his closest disciples as well as his network of relationships. This research might place Nikkō in a broader picture and some of the controversies around him, into a new light.
