The 1647 Westminster Shorter Catechism

This volume is the original 1647 version of the Westminster Shorter Catechism. The Catechism is proved by Scripture using the Authorized Version (KJV) as published with those proofs in 1652. The Scripture proofs are cited in full. The Westminster Assembly of 1643 to 1649 produced three documents of lasting value to the Church: The Westminster Confession of Faith, The Larger Catechism, and the Shorter Catechism. Since then the Shorter Catechism has become well known as a manual of doctrine for both children and adults requiring an introduction to the Christian Faith. Though the Christian Church takes the whole Word of God alone as her only rule of faith, she must also frame and promote a statement of what she understands the Word of God to teach. This catechism is an ideal way to give structure to the discipling of new believers.
