The 1864 Civil War Diary and Brief Biography of James B. Essig

My Great Grandfather Essig joined the 104th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in 1862. He was captured by Mosby's Raiders in Kentucky but subsequently escaped. Essig was wounded at the siege of Knoxville and was present for the battles of Franklin and Nashville in 1864. The diary details his life as a soldier primarily in Washington and Nashville. The book contains 30 old photos and illustrations.
