The Two Toms

The singing career of The Two Toms is truly part of the musical fabric of Jarrow in the North-East of England. For many years The Two Toms were well known in Jarrow and indeed throughout Tyneside as a singing duo. This is their story; written by one of the Toms, Tommy Mullen, following the sad death of the other Tom, Tommy Rowan. It charts the lives of the two troubadors as they endure the slings and arrows of the working-mens' clubs, the pubs and the go-as-you-pleases; with a smile on their faces and a pint or two, and sometimes a pound or two, for their trouble. The tale shows a slice of life as it was lived in the North-East of England from the 1940s to the present day and it is warmly recommended.
