What if the United States had the technology to travel back in time? For what reason would this dangerous technology be utilized? During work on the Manhattan Project in 1940, some ancillary research lead to theoretical proposals on time travel. The proposals became a reality and Project Time Shift was put in place explicitly to prevent a nuclear holocaust.
Time Shift, America's blackest project, will send a nuclear powered aircraft carrier back to December, 1941, to re-fight World War II for the specific purpose of changing history in order to secure a sound future for mankind.
This is a wonderfully paced novel full of subplots that humanize the story and infuse a great deal of emotion. Honor, courage, faith, loss and love will all be addressed as fighter pilots, priests, cooks and captains come to terms with the dynamic transformation that results in a sixty plus year journey back in time and the startling changes the time shift will have on their bodies as well as their emotions.
A compelling read!
