Essay on the Void of Non-Being

Essay on the Void of Non-Being

ByThomas MacDonald

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
The void of non-being stands before us even as we live our lives as normal. There is nothing we can do to stop the constant march of time, aging, and the realities of our eventual deaths. In the world as it is, there is a culture of death denial which is truly unhealthy. It is true that there are more conversations being had regarding death, human rights, and individual liberties, but this is something that is still in serious contention around the world. In truth, we are eventually going to succumb to death at some point, and it would be better if we were to admit this to ourselves. We can only imagine what it would be like to be dead. Death, being an aspect of reality that is unique to biological life, teaches us through the process of dying. Non-being is not really a state, unlike other experiences we go through in life. It is something altogether mysterious because it is a concept that is so abstract that we can hardly understand what it ultimately means for us. True oblivion, if this is our lot in our existence, is so incredibly symbolic in nature that we can only speculate what it might represent.
