The pre-existence of Christ is an important doctrine. But the Church has taken his pre-existence to be chronological. This makes accepting Jesus's true humanity nearly impossible. Rather, His pre-existence is according to the Spirit where there is no time. This allows us to have a human Jesus whom, now exalted, we can truly love and imitate.
