I have made it my job to explain to you, whoever you are, what is wrong about the way you think, and I would like to do that not because you are wrong, although you are; not because an inaccurate understanding of our situation as human beings leads you to believe things and do things that are wasteful, ineffective, and often destructive, although it does; and not because I would like you to have a reason to change your mind, and then, perhaps, to change your behavior, although I would; but simply because there are things that are true, and there are things that are not true; and in my opinion, it is better somehow, more honest perhaps, to believe things to be true only if they are, and to refuse to believe things to be true when, demonstrably and certainly, they are not. All I have on my side of the argument, when it comes down to it, is the meaning of the words I write, and that we all speak, inside our heads and out loud.
