I wasn’t sure if I’d write a note for what is, in reality, just a collection of diarised thoughts written in an odd manner with no actual semblance of closure. I guess that’s what poetry is, or at least can be sometimes…it is a very subjective medium indeed! I think what I’ve enjoyed the most about writing these is the process itself as each piece started as an idea captured whilst listening to an Erland Cooper track from the following releases: Solan Goose. Sule Skerry. Hether Blether. Murmurations. Landform. It felt a good way to get me writing again, if only for two or three minutes each day. Bad habits of constantly logging on early to start work can only be replaced with good habits…and I’ve always found writing to be one of the few things I’ve tried that’s made me truly happy. So, with the completion of each album, I had a number of rough poems to then flesh out into something a bit more firmer, and in turn, this seen me write for a little bit longer each day, which made me a little more happier each day…content to be lost in my thoughts; content to be smiling again…catharticism in full bloom. Will these win the Pulitzer Prize? I very much suspect not…but that is ok. I am enjoying the process of creating again…and that is enough.
