Israel's Friend

We live in a day when Israel and the Jewish people have few friends indeed. Israel is surrounded by nations who are at best tolerant, at worst murderously hostile… The Church has often not been far from this hostility, unfortunately as an antagonist rather than a friend… The Book of Ruth expresses the relationship between Israel, the Church and Jesus in figurative form … Ruth stands as an example and a challenge to the Church to stand as Israel’s friend.
