By early 2003 Tony Green had been serving as a soldier in the Territorial Army Field Hospital for three years. By March of that year, much to his surprise, he was deployed to the desert and finally called upon to earn his pay. This is the story of a TA soldier mobilised for the Iraq War. It doesn’t seek to preach about the rights and wrongs of such a conflict, merely to tell of the funny, terrible, and amazing things that can happen to people in such circumstances. And there’s a bit about selling chocolate in the desert too…
