The "People Power" Job Superbook: Book 39. Vocational - Trades - Career Guide 1 (General Knowledge About Technical - Skilled Professions)

ByTony Kelbrat

The term vocational conjures up an image of some semi-stupid, unkempt kind of guy who was too dumb to go to college (at least it did when I went to school) which is why I notice that it's being phased out in favor of the terms career education and technical education. Just as I warned you about college through my writings, I'm warning you the same about vocational trades. Don't go to a non- accredited vocational school which exists to make money from your tuition then gives you a diploma that's useless to get a job. Another thing to be wary about is your choice of trade. A friend of mine spent two years taking an electronic technician course then couldn't find a job. After about a year, he forget it all so he was useless at interviews. In some areas, there's an overabundance of carpenters in the carpenter's union and another carpentry graduate out of vocational school will not find a job. You have to go where the jobs are like Vegas, Orlando or Branson.
