Hogwater:Village of Secrets

Hogwater is a village on the borderlands populated by hard working peasants reclaiming the abandoned farmlands of a collapsed civilization. Hogwater has many troubles and could use some help from adventurers. Ruled by an inept usurper, exploited by charismatic reeve, the peasants are struggling against obstacles that may drive them from the borderland. Monsters proliferating in the forest threaten the people and their livestock. A strange dragon robs wealthy merchants. There’s a shortage of men at arms to protect the village. Highwaymen harass travelers and small time traders. The local druid is indifferent to their plight. The innkeeper has mysterious and secretive habits. Hogwater: Village of Secrets is a starting location for a bottom up sandbox campaign. Compatible with Swords & Wizardry, the book contains the village, its inhabitants, factions, monster lairs, an investigative adventure for 3rd level characters, unique magic items, unique monsters, mechanics for player character’s reputation with the various factions, maps and reference sheets. The village is presented so that the referee can quickly get a campaign started or add the village to a campaign in progress.
