Jacob lives on the outskirts of a small town in rural Pennsylvania, and he has declared independence from the United States:
“I have no justification for declaring independence really—don’t need any, couldn’t possibly have any, don’t want any. I will never knowingly bow down to any country or government or culture or whatever. I’m going to do what I want to do, just like everyone else.”
This is an untraditional story of a betrayal by both friend and lover, of a bitter lesson and of an attempt to escape it all.
