About Essence Lamonde

Travis Precious Lamonde Williams, b.k.a. Essence Lamonde was born in Far Rock Away Queens. At the age of 13 his mother moved him to Brownsville Brooklyn. He wrote his first poem at the age of 15, while in Summer School. Since then he has kept putting his thoughts and feelings on paper. As a senior in high school he landed the lead role in his high school play. That helped prepare him for what he would later do. Since coming on to the poetry scene in 2005 Essence has graced many stages throughout the Five Boroughs. He has produced and hosted many shows. Some including The Essence Xperience (@ Food 4 Thought), The Ess Factor (@ Brooklyn Exposure while a member of Untamed Talent), and Essperience Thursdays (@ Stratosphere Lounge). All in Brooklyn, NY. In 2010 Essence made it to the Semi Finals round at the Apollo's Amateur Night competition. For a number of years he was regular performer for A.C.S. at their African History Celebration Month Festivities. Essence has spoken at grade schools, high schools, colleges, and churches. His talents have been sought out by many different organizations.
