Dr Markham's Antipodean Voyage

ByTudor Winter

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Too sensitive to be published in its day this Journal has taken five generations and some 170 years to surface for publication in its full glory. On the 28th of June 1841 Dr Thomas John Markham left Liverpool England on board the 467 ton Ship, Livingston. Dr Markham had left his home and family in Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland to be the Ship’s Surgeon Superintendent on the voyage. In his care were 226 fellow Irish citizens and two Englishmen travelling as bounty emigrants to start a new life in Australia. This publication can be used with confidence as a research or education document but, most of all, it is for enjoyment. Thomas Markham’s writing style is a joy to behold making this story, beyond anything else, a ripping good yarn for all ages.
