Exploring Introductory Statistics
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Statistics is the science of good decision making. It is divided into two parts: describing data and making inferences from data. It is more of a science than mathematics. Statistics is very different than algebra or calculus courses – everyone seems to interact with statistics in some form or another. Those that have a better understanding of statistics are better consumers, voters, and citizens.
This text is designed to introduce the students to the world of descriptive statistics and hypothesis testing. The text is designed to be used in a flipped classroom. Videos are available, created by the author, covering every section. Labs are conducted in class using the students as a sample. Practice assignments are designed to be done in pairs or small groups to reinforce learning. Homework assignments can then be practiced individually. In this way the student learns statistics by doing statistics!
