Urban Development In Accra, Ghana

The Urban Design Program and the Urban Design Lab are pleased to have been instrumental in developing this strategic analysis of development potentials for the Ga Mashie and Nima neighborhoods in Accra. Urban Design is by definition synthetic in its nature. And Urban Design is not a benign tool in the development process. Indeed, it is central to conceiving the investment options that are necessary to understanding development opportunities and to their correlation with the most effective outcomes. This study attempts to clarify these options for two neighborhoods that are diverse in their characteristics, but equally in need of the kind of upgrading that only a well-rationalized investment program can accomplish.
