Re-Envisioning Health In Kumasi

I am very pleased that the Millennium Cities Initiative and the Urban Design Lab at the Earth Institute, and the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) Urban Design program at Columbia University have been coming to Kumasi for the past two years to work alongside students of the Department of Planning at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to together address important urban issues in Kumasi. I am also glad that this work has been done in cooperation with our traditional authorities, government leaders and communities. I hope that the poposed projects, written essays, and compiled research for sustainable development for Kumasi will be studied and used by the traditional authorities, governmental bodies, academic institutions and citizen groups, to help transform Kumasi into a city with an enterprising economy, good ecology, and a healthy society.
