But the consequences of that first meeting ricochet through the lives of Jo and her family in a shocking and unforeseen way. The story of Jo is told with masterly skill by Val Gould. It has wonderful moments of cheeky humour, incredible in-depth character creation as well as beautiful lyrical passages which lift the spirit and allow the reader to live those moments through the eyes of the writer. This is undoubtedly Val’s best yet and reinforces the fact that she is a writer of great talent.
