The articles in this book first appeared in the Leek Post & Times either in 2004 or the early part of 2005. All took a light-hearted look at topical events and proved far more popular than my earlier articles, which took a downbeat look at very dated events.
While my writing was understandably tailored to the readership of said newspaper, for the most part the subject matter applies to just about anywhere in the UK.
Leek is situated in north Staffordshire, on the edge of the Peak District, in some of the most beautiful countryside Britain has to offer. It is known locally, and not without some justification, as the Queen of Staffordshire Moorlands.
A former mill town, Leek retains a number of old and interesting buildings along with its essential character as a friendly market town.
For two and a half years, Leek was home.
