This book is the result of a collaboration between Victor Stabin and the eighth grade students and faculty at The LB Morris School in Jim Thorpe, PA. This unique ABC book was inspired by Victor Stabin’s book, Daedal Doodle.
The "Daedal Doodle Curriculum" combines sourcing the dictionary for unusual words to create alliterations that students then illustrate. As they’re looking for words to illustrate, they’re simultaneously learning vocabulary. This form of arts integration engages students while linking the arts with core curriculum. The novelty of reading the dictionary to source words for drawing can be an important process in bridging art and language, ostensibly ending the traditional, but rigid, separation of the arts from basic education and thereby creating a fluid and creative mind.
This book showcases the LB Morris students' alliterative, pictorial word inventions.
