This current book represents a translation of four important works of Dr. Waleed Edrees on the Qurʾānic readings along with additional material received from him and reorganized into a coherent narrative on this complex topic. At its heart, this is a critical and honest traditional account of the readings by an individual who has been immersed in them for most of his life. Shaykh Waleed Edrees al-Meneese is a prolific scholar, author, master of Islamic sciences and one of the world’s leading experts on the modes of Qurʾānic recitation (Qirāʾāt) and Ḥanbalī jurisprudence. He serves as dean of the faculty of Islamic Studies and president of the Board of Directors at the Islamic University of Minnesota, senior member of the Permanent Fatwa Committee of the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA), Imām and president of the board of trustees of Dar-al-Farooq Islamic Center, member of faculty of the Graduate Theological Foundation, and former chairman of the North American Imams Federation (NAIF).
