Gold Open Access 2015-2020: Articles in Journals (GOA6)

One million and one billion: those are the key numbers for Gold Open Access 2015-2020: Articles in Journals (GOA6), the sixth in this series of SPARC-supported studies of serious gold OA (as represented by journals in the Directory of Open Access Journals). There were more than one million articles in these journals in 2020--and potential revenue from the 65% of articles that required fees of some sort exceeded $1 billion (actually more than $1.25 billion). While 69% of the journals do not require fees ("diamond" if you will), the 31% that do account for far more articles. The book includes some graphs and tables noting changes over the past five editions.
