17th WEGEMT School: Risk and Reliability in Marine Technology- Risks of Failure of Ship Structures

This publication compiles the lecture notes from the 17th WEGEMT School on Risk and Reliability in Marine Technology. The School was held at the Instituto Superior Tecnico, Lisbon, in 1993. Some of the topics covered include: Reliability of a Fire-Fighting System; Fault Tree Analysis; Human Factors in Marine Accidents; Probabilistic Approach to the Collision Damage of Ships; Risks of Capsizing and Lack of Stability; Risks of Corrosion in Pipelines; Risks of Failure of Ship Structures; and Quantitative Reliability Measures. The lecture notes have been prepared by several authors, S. Kristiansen, S. Whalley, M. Rausand, J. Wolfram, C. Guedes Soares and A. Pittaluga, to name a few.
