When we experience tough times, we feel emotionally vulnerable; we become anxious, sad and fearful but do not know how to deal with those emotions. Since negative emotions are uncomfortable, the instinct is to eliminate them. In doing so, many people make choices and decisions yet ignore the consequences of the actions taken. Only to find out later when they realise they have made a horrible mistake. But life doesn't have to be this cruel only if we know best how to handle our strong emotions and stop them from interfering with our choices and decisions. Expressing how we feel, when we are angry, fearful and vulnerable is healthy, but expressing our emotions in ways that sabotage our efforts, or harm those around us is counterproductive over the longer term. It shows signs of emotional immaturity. This book is a blueprint for using basic everyday skills we usually take for granted to help one navigate personal adversity. The techniques in this book are not set in stone; they combine my personal experience and partly research work that resulted from those experiences. Therefore, this book is partially based on personal observations and interactions during those periods. And is it not intended to be used as an academic textbook. However, it is designed to be a framework for laying the ground for developing unbreakable resilience in tough times. To help you boost your confidence and gain clarity so that you can elevate yourself above the negative emotions and mental challenges which bog down many people, particularly when experiencing personal and professional challenges.
