Gabriella Lewenz, artist, born and raised in Greece of American parents in the foreign service, moved to Waiheke Island, New Zealand in 1997 to build a studio overlooking the Hauraki Gulf and the dormant volcano of Rangitoto. In the ensuing decade, the power and colors of Aotearoa (the Maori name for New Zealand) deeply influenced her work, as can be seen in this book of images of her recent oil paintings.
