In the thirteenth century, the northern steppe tribes were united as never before under the impetus of the Mongols, in stark contrast to the centuries of division and strife that preceded it. In response to the desire of the steppe people for unity, strength, peace and abundance, it was Genghis Khan, the first emperor of the Yuan Dynasty, who took up this mission.
