A Series of Non Events

As time goes on increasing numbers of new systems capture photographs automatically. 'Non-human photography' (Joanna Zylinska) is a feature of the contemporary landscape but for over a decade Google Streetview cameras have been recording routes in every continent. In a nod to Michael Wolf’s famous, A Series of Unfortunate Events, this book follows the same route that a Streetview car took (around parts of University of Sussex campus including Arts Road) in 2019. In an attempt to mimic the machinic behaviour Yutian Li captured quality images on his Sony A7C. Nothing dramatic happened on either of the two journeys.
