About
Asian Arts

The Asian Arts & Culture Center opened its doors in 1971 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication at Towson University when local business owner Frank Roberts bequeathed his collection of Chinese and Japanese ivory carvings to the university. In 1995, a membership program was launched to help the center reach financial stability after it became a self-supporting entity within Towson University. In 2005 we moved into the renovated Center for the Arts. Our new office and 1,500-square-foot gallery enjoy increased visibility and accessibility just off the main atrium of the building. In 2007 the Advisory Board created the Gilbert A. Brungardt Endowment for the benefit of the Asian Arts & Culture Center to honor Dr. Brungardt for his dedication to the Asian Arts & Culture Center as a founding member and president of the Advisory Board for 10 years. The endowment provides stable funding to support and enhance the future of the center.
