Virginia Avniel Spatz is a writer and editor for Charnice Milton Community Bookstore. The Chicago native and her husband, Cary O'Brien, have made the District home for over 35 years, raising two children there. Spatz is active in several Jewish congregations as well as interfaith and cross-community efforts. Her fiction, poetry, and journalism appears in local and national publications. The Charnice Milton Community Bookstore brings books and literacy-focused events to the Historic Anacostia neighborhood of Washington, DC and areas nearby. The Great Kite is part of our on-going efforts to foster literacy, love of books and reading, and intergenerational conversation.
