Neil started photographing live gigs in 1978 and produced freelance work for NME, Sounds and Record Mirror. After a break from live photography of 20 years he returned to the London live scene with a digital camera in 2006. He has been published widely in periodicals as diverse as The Morning Star and Oxford Country Life. He also produced his own photo fanzine - the Poser - which John Peel described as 'worth getting hold of'. Recently New York specialist bookseller Harper's Books described the Poser as 'influential UK punk 'zine' and the content as 'arresting photographs'.
