author Neil the Smith
SCROLL DOWN FOR MY 8 FUN AND ENTERTAINING, SOME CONTROVERSIAL, AUTOBIOGRAPGICAL BOOKS. I am a writer. A 'wordsmith', you might say. My ancestors, the Smiths, Smids or Smythes, go back over 1,000 years to early crafters, blacksmiths and metalsmiths, of Britain. So I'm CALLING MYSELF 'THE SMITH'. Because that's both who I am and what I do. I learned my unique writing style during the Ad Revolution of the '60s with those outrageous VW ads like 'Think Small' and 'Lemon' that launched the new VW Beetle. The new car was a huge success. These provocative ads started the revolution everyone was talking about (even in advertising circles). Then in '72 I won an award for the best TV ad campaign of the year for meat pies and donuts. For over 10 years I ran my own freelance copywriting business in Melbourne. Then I became a freelance author. I've written and self-published 8 non-fiction books. Today I live the laptop lifestyle close to my 2 daughters and 3 grand-daughters in a quiet seaside resort across the bay from Melbourne.
